Sara’s own Jiu-Jitsu journey began during the pandemic, when she stepped in as her husband’s training partner. It was during this time that she discovered her deep love for the sport. She now balances her training with the responsibilities of raising their two children. With a background as a registered nurse, Sara has spent most of her life in healthcare. Now her understanding of the human body and wellness greatly enhances her approach to teaching Suples and Yoga.
Not content with just one area of expertise, Sara has expanded her knowledge and certifications in various fields.
She is a Level 1 Suples Bulgarian Bag Certified trainer thus allowing her to coach strength and conditioning classes at the academy. Furthermore, she is a 200-hour Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) through the Yoga Alliance and is certified in Yoga for BJJ! Sara’s lifelong dedication to yoga and her understanding of its benefits make her an invaluable asset to all athletes. Her yoga classes help prevent injuries, improve flexibility, and enhance muscle endurance.
In addition to her various roles at The Base Woodland, Sara also works from home as a writer for Glam, focusing on health and wellness topics. Her background in nursing and her ongoing passion for staying up to date with the latest research allow her to provide valuable insights and advice to her readers. With her multifaceted expertise and warm, approachable demeanor, Sara Halcumb is an exceptional instructor at The Base Woodland.
